Chris Hondros and Tim Hetherington in Memoriam

Yesterday Chris Hondros and Tim Hetherington died while working as combat photographers and war correspondents in Misurata/Libya. My condolences go out to their families, friends and collegues. Here are some examples of their work.

A Death in Fennville

Hier zwei Zitate:

Shooting “A Death in Fennville” often made me think about checking my emotions especially when interviewing parents and teammates of Wes still trying hard to come to terms with what had happened. Did I even need to bother putting my emotions away with what was going on or being said?

und

I didn’t let the emotions I was feeling get in the way of my storytelling…it helped me in fact because I was in tune with what they were feeling. I’m the father of two kids so my questioning came from that part of me, the human part.

Multimedia Visions

Participating an Alumni Reunion at the School of Journalism in Columbia/MO. After we saw a lot of excellent multimedia stuff yesterday, I have to think about, which business model will work in the future for photographers / multimedia producers and publishers.

Reminds me on thoughts of David Campbell: "Revolutions in the media economy (3): photojournalism's futures", from 2009. It is highly recommended reading it. You'll find also a very helpfull "Back Catalogue" on this topic.
